I was born in Madrid in 1962. I began my art training as a photographer in T.A.I. school in Madrid. I carried out some photographic works for a magazine but the amount and the price of the equipment needed did not fulfil my expectations of photography as a means of expression . After that, I studied stained-glass for one year and completed my training learning classic drawing. Professionally, I started working in graphic arts. After a few years I travelled to London where I stayed for six years. During that time I completed a Foundation course in Art at Harrow Collage which granted me entry to Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design in London in 1995. There I completed a full BA (HONS) in Sculpture. On finishing my studies I had an exhibition of my work " Our common Sun" in Art House of London.
When I came back to Madrid I had another solo exhibition "In the Strait of Gibraltar" at the castle of Oropesa in Toledo. However, my work not being commercially oriented, my subsequent efforts to promote it with art galleries in Spain was fruitless. I also tried to expand in Berlin, without success and had to come back to Madrid. Despite the failure of finding a space for exhibiting my work, I continue with my artistic activity carrying two lines of work: one within the studio (Reliquaries), and another as a street artist (Art is Fighting) I have not given up my energy and enthusiasm to be able to dedicate my full time to my passion and continue developing as an artist in the future.
One of the main lines of my work resides in my interest in the religious consciousness of the human being. I am deeply interested in the innate necessity for religion; that is why many of my works resemble altars. This relates to another of my concerns which is the relationship between the object and the individual; our capacity to attach human properties to objects and transfigure them into the realm of the sacred, turn them into talismans, icons or art pieces.
When confronting the task of making an art piece I adopt two lines of work. On some occasions, I work as if distilling a perfume, extracting the ultimate essence of what lies in front of me. On others, I work as if creating a person whose final appearance feels interesting, but which is formed by a plurality of subtle nuances and contradictions. Within this conglomerate there are both positive and negative parts which combine together to create a certain personality. Even aesthetically, beauty always find flaws in a person, that is why I include a variety of elements regardless of whether they are attractive or not.
