En Aguas del Estrecho

"En Aguas del Estrecho" es un trabajo inspirado en la emigración y trata de hacernos reflexionar sobre la lucha de todo aquel que ha de salir de su entorno a buscar aquello que le es necesario. Nos habla del espacio que discurre entre dos mundos y de la transición entre dos estados. Es la necesidad del movimiento y el miedo al cambio. Es el acto y la entrega, el duelo entre el sueño y la razón, el choque entre lo real y lo imaginado. Es en definitiva un acto crítico y un viaje inevitable.

"En Aguas del Estrecho" es una reflexión sobre la búsqueda como necesidad y la huída como solución; sobre la voluntad y la intolerancia; sobre lo desproporcionado del esfuerzo, la mentira en lo encontrado y sobre la muerte.

En lo formal este trabajo consta de seis obras compuestas por estructuras de formas cúbicas construidas con madera y cartón y auto-iluminadas con fluorescentes.

Cada pieza es un intento de encontrar el equilibrio entre opuestos (luz-sombra, cálido-frio, etc.). El uso de materiales pobres contrasta a su vez con la forma solemne con la que se presentan. Tanto por su disposición como por su iluminación, las piezas nos recuerdan altares en los que se nos invita a la reflexión. Potencia esta sensación el hecho de que hayan sido diseñados para ser vistos de manera frontal.

"ln the Waters of Gibraltar" is a piece of work which is inspired on emmigration. Its aim is to lead us to reflect upon the struggle of those who are forced to leave their environment and search for what they need. It deals with the distance that separates two worlds and with the transition between two states. It portrays the need for movement and the fear of change. The act and the sacrifice, the duel between dream and reason, the confrontation between the real and the imaginary. This in conclusión entails both a critique and an unavoidable journey.

In the waters of Gibraltar" is a reflection about searching as a necessity and about fleeing as a solution; about strength of will and intolerance; about the disproportionate effort that is made ; the deceipt in what is encountered and about death.

As regards form, this project comprises five pieces which are composed with geometric structures made with wood and cardboard and lit with fluorescent lights.

Each piece is an attempt to find the balance between opposing forces (light-darkness, warmth-coldness, etc.) The use of simple materials contrasts in turn with the solemnity in which they are presented. Due to both their disposition and their lighting, the pieces remind us of altars in which we are invited to reflection. This feeling is enhanced by the fact that they have been designed to be viewed from a frontal perspective.
